Really? He has no idea why.

Here's a hint. Most stores need to run on a skeleton crew to remain profitable. Guess which demographic calls out more, especially during peak holiday season. I'm sure you have the numbers. At any retail store, if you call out any day in December, you might as well just quit. Most places will have an absolutely no time off under any circumstances during peak season policy and will fire you for missing.

Women just think they can get away with it more. Starting to turn out they can't.

Having worked retail, I can say that women are the worst workers in the store and men have to bear the brunt of all the work.

You might recall some of the articles/gloating over male unemployment this year and how men were simply becoming obsolete and we would have to learn "soft skills" (i.e. be more like girls)

Female workers bore the brunt of job losses in the retail industry over the last year.

Oh? Why might that be?

As the retail industry grappled with store closings and bankruptcies, it lost 54,300 jobs from October 2016 to October 2017. During that time, women lost 160,300 retail jobs, while men actually gained 106,000 jobs, according to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research analysis of the December employment report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The disparity seems to be coming from shifting trends in the retail industry, though just what trends are causing it are up for debate.

Most of the industry’s job losses came from general merchandise stores, which shed 161,000 female employees while adding nearly 88,000 male workers from October 2016 to October 2017, the most recent BLS data available. Meanwhile car dealers, home improvement stores and furniture retailers all saw job gains in that period, with higher gains among men. Hartmann said you’re more likely to see men working in these stores than women, and same goes for those departments within larger general merchandise stores like Walmart.

Departments where expertise and occasional heavy lifting are actually required.

She theorized that general merchandise stores may be laying off women in lower-performing departments and hiring men to work in more successful departments.

What departments are these that are lower-performing? Why are they lower-performing? Might it be because men are better, more reliable, less risky and less costly workers?

Nah. Must be the patriarchy.

He noted that with the rise in store closures and popularity of online shopping, there’s a shift away from in-store positions and towards warehousing and distribution jobs, which he said might explain some of the gender differences. Warehouse and distribution jobs, however, are not listed as retail jobs in federal labor market data, a fact that industry representatives say skews the sector’s overall job performance.

Hartmann agreed that brick-and-mortar cuts are more likely to negatively impact women, who often serve in point-of-sale jobs like cashiers.

Remember when automation was going to make male workers obsolete? And then I pointed out that self-serve checkouts and ordering kiosks were a loaded gun pointed at the back of female workers' collective heads?

Glad to see the professional 'enlightened' class eventually catch up.

“What we have to work on is getting women into the jobs where they are growing,” she said.

Women? In warehousing? When I worked for Wally World, there was exactly 1 woman who worked in the warehouse and she was of the masculine and Sapphic persuasion.

Reading the article and the simple fact that the president was a woman makes me just think "tehe men make better slaves", but it is funny to see her have to dance around saying that "men are better workers and we don't want to be sued"

A loooot more men are going mgtow without even knowing it. Many young men I know just want a job to sustain a living on a frugal basis with some money saving as well. That's all. GYOW. Love it.

I run my own SNOW REMOVING business. They are free to come over and give us a hand with shovelling and snow blowing some of our properties....Now I wonder why I haven't got a single girl to show up and at least try for it. Pay is good btw but still don't see them 🙄😃
