I have always been fascinated in schizoid personality disorder; a condition involving a marked lack of interest in social relationships, restricted range of emotional experience and expression, indifference to praise or criticism, and a preoccupation with fantasy life. It has been said by some authors that the psychological landscape of those with schizoid personality disorder can best be described as “the self in exile”; that is, the person is completely detached from the external world and essentially has a relationship with themselves. Those of the schizoid variety seem to prefer a life without emotional attachment and commitment to others. They Go Their Own Way on an extreme level – these are the Monks Amongst Monks. It has been said that a discrepancy exists between those with schizoid, and avoidant personality disorder, such that avoidants desire deeply to have relationships with other people, but intensely fear rejection, whereas schizoids instead fear others knowing that they actually exist. That is, those of the schizoid disposition prefer to go through life completely under the radar, without acknowledgement or attachment to others. Typical lines of employment that have been suggested as ideal for schizoids (I hate using the term as a descriptive label, but it helps for ease of writing), include IT, trades involving minimal human contact, cleaning, writing and editing, and research; to name a few.
I sometimes muse that schizoids enjoy an un-celebrated advantage over many of us in the MGTOW community. These men live their life completely going their own way, and from the start in most cases, have managed to avoid the pain and heartache that naturally arises when relationships turn sour. Being the passive observers that they are, they themselves never have relationships, so they have no need of learning Red Pill truths: they are already living a life that is praised and admired by MGTOW. The only difference being that they seemingly have very little, or no desire to have intimate relations with other people. For many MGTOW, we choose not to engage intimately with women, but never really get rid of our urges completely. What then separates us from those of the schizoid variety, and how is it that they can enjoy this in-born advantage in avoiding relationships with ease? It seems that they possess an advantage that many MGTOW (myself at least) would dream of. A life without the need for attachment right from the beginning – it is difficult to fathom how this could be possible, but these people prove that it very well might be.
