Those who are subscribed to any major science feeds might notice how often the subject is being pushed.

Well, I personally get sad looking at it and all the reasoning and one-sided nature of the arguments. Ed is a brilliant science communicator, but sometimes I wonder if in his position, he's forced to write about that to keep his job. Why a rational person wouldn't at least suggest an argument of different natural inclinations of men and women? How many women are known in math & theoretical physics despite the fact that all the textbooks and papers are out there in relatively easy reach?

I got to work with some really great, rational, and passionate women in science who got their career due to their real skills. One thing was common among them: they do research, plan experiments, supervise, and publish papers without complaining about the "gender gap!" Their papers are accepted because they represent valuable work. And then there's this other type of women... who want equality. (admittedly, there's a ton of horrible male researchers... they don't last)

Now, the suggestion is to force closing the gender gap. Screw the quality of research, screw practicality, screw reasoning. Just let women be the authors just because equality? Hire more women as editors so they would enforce "equality?" Really, Ed? Is that what you want science to become... even more effed up than it is now? Does every niche and crevice of society have to be "equalized" just for the sake of it? I always thought that biologists are the first people to understand that men and women are different on every level imaginable. How do they bend their reasoning and forget the basic biology?

Science used to be a great area to be a mgtow and have an interesting lifestyle (not exactly to get rich at all!), in fact very relationship and marriage unfriendly. Mainly due to the temporary state of research positions and necessity to move from country to country. Guess these days might be over.
