In Nigeria, no fault divorce is not a thing. The courts also take the view of dividing assets based on contribution to the marriage. These two factors alone make a marriage being made official in Nigeria, or another place with more logical marriage laws, sensible to men. Would it be possible to make it clear you will only officially marry a girl where the laws aren’t insanely backwards in favor of women? If you both still lived in US and got married in a place with laws similar to Nigeria, would the laws of where you were married be applicable, or could the state you live in take precedent? What if you stated the jurisdiction the divorce would be subject to, ie Nigeria, in a prenup? Is this a potentially workable loophole, or fantasy? I likely will not ever marry, but this seems like a sensible, risk-adjusted approach to marriage in our gynocentric culture.
