They didn't actually "pay into" social security, but they think they did. Its fucking hilarious. They're too dumb to realize that the government was only taxing them and wasn't actually expecting to have to pay them a retirement, if the government did then they wouldn't have been spending SS money on poor people and their foriegn wars.

Nope, they certainly did not. They paid to the beneficiaries who were alive when they were working. Meanwhile, the federal government took whatever excess was left, spent it, and left an IOU in its place.

We are now paying to beneficiaries who are alive today. The problem is, there are fewer workers per beneficiary. In 1945, the worker-to-beneficiary ratio was approximately 41.9-to-1. In 2011, the ratio was 2.94-to-1. There are three major reasons for this: First, the number of people who qualify as beneficiaries is much larger than when Social Security was implemented (expanded social welfare as a means of vote-buying, imagine that). Second, not enough babies were born to keep pace with the ballooning of the number of Social Security beneficiaries. Third, those babies that were born are faced with underemployment or unemployment in a contracting labor market (thanks Boomers).

Of course, those ratios wouldn't be relevant if the old geezers had actually "paid into" the system and were now receiving what they put in, as they claim. The truth is, Social Security is a transfer payment scheme in which the old voted themselves the right to take money from the young to facilitate their continued lifestyle.

Just a way to assign a unique serial number to the individual citizen for the purpose of asset management and creation of bonds using said serial/SS numbers as collateral.

They paid, but government spent it and had the next generation pay for them. Now that generation is getting taxed AND is paying into private retirement. Then that generation got screwed by corporate retirement companies going belly up (partly fraudulently) and so the governent had to step in to regulate.
