Just another attempt to use 'big data' to determine what sort of things women like on their shopping trips.

Which is, I am sure, of great interest to yogic entrepreneurs, kitsch shops, designer boutiques, nail and hair salons, pottery workshops, homemade jewelry storefronts, and tapas bars--all of the industries which make up what might be called the 'pink economy'--as if every metropolitan area isn't already saturated in 'pink economy' goods and services.

I mean, how many nail salons do you really need on one street? How many yoga studios can one hipster neighborhood sustain before supply outstrips demand? I walk down some streets in these 'creative class' neighborhoods, and all I see are nail salons, tapas bars, yoga studios, and homemade jewelry for blocks and blocks on end, most of which stand idle, with perhaps maybe one or two women in them. It's an ultimately unsustainable model.

What would really serve women's interests is a large factory that employs men in high paying jobs. Or a military base. Or even a courthouse (a place to discover both rich lawyers and judges, and alpha thugboys, all in one place), so that the women can get both the dollars and the incentive to conspicuously consume hot yoga, personal training, fashion boutiques, hair and nail services, and so on. Because the money has got to come from somewhere; I'm not sure a single woman, with one income, has the purchasing power or leisure to maximize their participation in the 'pink economy' as it exists.
