Serbia is going to adopt a "Law on Gender Equality" which states that words which naming certain professions should be used in feminine forms if worker is a female. Therefore, the law inventing completely new words (or feminine forms of the words) which even did not existed or were not used in Serbian language.
Furthermore, the Law prescribes a "fines in millions of dinars for public authorities and responsible persons who ignore the rules of gender-sensitive language".
Serbian linguists criticized this law and one linguist even stated that this is a "rape of a language". This is a quote from one notable Serbian linguist about this law: "If the language is viewed through feminist interpetitions, then dogmatic, ideological observation of things will occur, even rape of the language, if you wish. This can create the opposite effect and be counterproductive."
