Hey Fellas, This a rant. I'm just hoping to get some advice , there is a TL;DR below if you don't want to hear my BS.
The way main-stream society views men is so cruel , unjust and venomous. All of my life I tried to be a good guy, putting my physical safety and personal comfort aside to help other humans at times. I have certainly failed at living up to my standards but I never disrespected women for being women. Like most , if not all , of you I was raised to believe that women were basically superior to us and accepted without any resentment. In middle school I was in awe of women , they seemed so calm , peaceful and serene in contrast my somewhat unstable male friends. Of course , I would come to learn that what I was seeing in women was a combination of my own projections, our cultures conventional wisdom and the fact that they were on their best behavior but the general level of respect I've always had for women has been much higher than what I had for other men. At that point in my life, if one of you was dying in the street I'd step over you to help the slightly injured girl next to you and feel totally justified in that decision. After all , we have to protect our precious , innocent women.
So you guys know most of the rest of the story. What is surprising to me (and the reason why I am posting here today) is how angry it has made me lately. I have been coming to this board for a while and considered myself past the anger stage but it turns out that I never even got to that part. I am in my thirties , well over the days when I felt that I needed a gf in order to be worth anything. I am quite content with my life and working towards a better one but I cannot help but get angry when I see articles about sexist air conditioning or men taking up too much space on trains because they don't want to crush their balls. I don't want to be angry at all, unlike many feminists , I was raised in a manner which suggested that either my emotional state was my fault or I wasn't doing enough work to get over it. I know that society doesn't care about how I feel and never will but I still feel stuck in resentment which is unhealthy and counter-productive.
I could go on for pages about specifically what bothers me about the way that Men are seen in our society but I won't subject anyone to that. I could really use some advice. I'm just wondering if some of you deal with this or what you did to get past it. I wonder if coming to communities like this (which I have found very helpful) stokes anger or relieves it. Basically any insight on how to get over anger would be very much appreciated.
TL;DR Did you get over the anger which comes with understanding female chauvinism? If so , any advice on how I can do the same?
