So there is a young woman that I work with. She looks 18 or 19. I knew she isn't a mother. I just said it as a joke to bother her, and boy oh boy it really did. I said:

Happy Mother's day! Her: Oh.. I'm not a mother Me: Oh okay. Just covering my bases Her: Oh, good to know!

After that she completely isolated herself from the group as much as possible, to the point that my superiors had to ask for her multiple times just to get her to fulfill her basic job responsibilities. It was strange. She seemed deeply troubled. I had no idea that such a simple joke would send this girl into an existential crisis.

Oh well! Figured you guys would get a kick out of this little story
