I live in the UK, so feel free to ask me any questions.
Cost of living is quite high, mainly rent. If you can get a good price on your rent then you should be fine.
Work environment is fine in the UK. Depending on the industry it can be quite strict, but overall it's not bad comparable to other countries.
Racism isn't as bad as people make out in the UK. It exists, but overall people tend to be fine. It's a very diverse country.

Note: I would avoid Birmingham. Pretty much a shithole. Manchester is a good bet if you have the option but rent is higher. London is absurdly overpriced.

Birmingham is riddled with crime and undesirables. There is also a large number of Muslims with extremist views. It's note rare to see child grooming hit the headlines for Birmingham. Also, lots of drug trade / gangs ect. Don't get me wrong, it's not all bad there. But I have always avoided it and recommend others also avoid it.
Manchester isn't perfect, but it's one of the better large cities in England. Quite diverse, everyone just gets on and does their own thing. Quite expensive but has a good educational background and job opportunities. Think of it like a mini-London without as much crap.

Racism is almost everywhere, but (most) people keep it at jokes. In a bad case scenario: if they make fun of you, try to exaggerate it. Look up racist jokes about Asians/Chinese people so you're prepared. Expect it and embrace it. It's better than calling 0900-VICTIM, because it'll only get worse if they find out. Some people just want to know if you can take a joke. Once they realize it doesn't bother you, they start losing interest in making fun of you. Only the real retards continue, but that's usually because they're insecure and need to mock others to feel better about themselves.

Another point is the English often use insults as terms on endearment. It depends how they are used. So don't be offended too easily, sometimes what you think is an insult over here is actually just how people address each other.

Living costs are high.
Racism, I wouldn't worry too much about. I would worry more about not saying anything offensive or racist yourself.
Work environment is comfortable, depending on the company.
Avoid the women and the late night parties, clubs, etc.
If the internship is not in London, most places close at like 5pm.
It rains a lot. But the weather changes quickly.

At this time the UK is a shit hole "most of the EU" and will put you in prison for thinking wrong. I had family living in Europe that came back because how bad it was gitting

You have to take illegal immigration into account now too. Illegal immigrants from Africa are causing havoc across Europe and destroying economies due to over-populating them. England's pretty safe against that due to it being an Island. (Brexit will probably help in the long run I suppose.)

Don't go, the U.K. is very dangerous. As an Asian you'll probably just get ignored by thugs as they don't deem you competition for girls and you'll just get robbed, but for me as an upper class looking but non wealthy white guy it's incredibly dangerous and I wouldn't go there ever again without buying a car and driving everywhere.
Acid attacks and stabbings on a daily basis in London.

I met a lot of good brits but there are tons of low class / dangerous people as well. Europe nowadays is totally different from the 90s when everything was more normal.

The UK is one of the worst paranoid police states in the world. I would never live there. Everything I hear about it screams TRASH, and now with Brexit we can expect everything to get worse. The Empire is long over, Churchill and the Greatest Generation are dead. Theresa May is what is left over. A fucking disaster.
Meanwhile, speaking of Europe, you have many relatively superior choices, most obviously Paris or Berlin.
