I would like to have a kid someday with a surrogate (because no way I’m trusting a modern woman with marriage), but I’m afraid that I might fail as a single parent. Kids need a lot of role models, some tough and strict (tough love), others kind and loving, some rare and some omnipresent. I was raised by my mum (my dad was always working to support mum but was too much of a goof to actually teach me anything) who was affectionate and made me experience feeling loved, while most of my manhood was thanks to my uncles who took me under their wing to train me in sports/science/martial arts/philosophy. It is nice having both, since the absense of one would have turned me into a sissy, the absense of the other would have hardened me so hard I wouldn’t know some experiences (like being loved) or the goodness of being caring and kind to those who deserve it.

If I were to raise a kid, I wish it would be in a village or monastery setting. A lot more care and close bonds with people who are committed, rather than in a city where you are on your own. Yeah I would take my kid to the “city” to be aware of the darker parts of reality but at a gradual strengthening pace. I’d still want him to have an innocent and happy childhood away from the evils of adulthood and the types of children produced in non-communal environments.
