After doing some research on these two topics I've come to the conclusion that both issues stem mostly from the attraction we know women feel towards sociopathic/antisocial behaviour in men. Assuming that women go for the bad boys and are more likely to tolerate their abhorrent behaviour towards them (as opposed to dating and being safe with a boring good guy), we can definitely conclude that the women who get beaten up, abandoned with their children, cheated on and sometimes even murdered, simply got what they bargained for.
