There are hormones produced supposedly. Scientists could measure those in different ways and at different times. Phenylethylamine, dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine, I think. Depression meds change the levels of these. After a while people tend to feel apathetic while taking them.

We can probably tell based on actions. Love is a commitment to another's wellbeing and best interest no matter the cost. If women truly loved men, they would literally be willing servants of their husbands. Society allows women to trash and abuse men but then forces men to "show love" to women even after they're not together. Women aren't held accountable but have all the benefits.

love is jsut chemicals in the brain. if you have ever taken extacy or molly it recreates the feeling of love exactly, and actually heightens it to the point where you love everyone around you, even strangers. these feelings are present both in men and women.

i think the problem is with the definition of love. males are able to stay loyal, self sacrifice, put the needs of others before their own, do the right things for the future of the relationship etc. these things all fall under the behaviors associated with someone we "love". but arent actually "love", just things we do for the ones we love. women are unable to do these behaviors associated with love over the long term, atleast not with men. some are able to do it for their children.

tl;dr women love differently but still feel the same chemical releases in their brain that we call "love". but they dont love us, they love what we can do for them.
