Preface: I must be completely fair and say that most the women at my old workplace (other than, well, being women) weren't anywhere close to the lunacy of this one. Just saying this to not over-generalize. Still, kinda fun story, so thought I'd share.
I was working as a web developer in a small-middle sized business for a guy I had known and worked for for years (that doesn't imply much respect from my side though). I used to be also the person to make photographs for his stuff. Eventually I kinda grew out of doing that and he hired some guy for it instead. The guy turned out to be a nightmare to work with, according to my boss (he demanded ... gasp ... to be paid!).
My boss proceeded to hire a girl who had been that photographer's assistant. I doubt he paid her much and that was likely why he wanted her. She did decent photographs and I guess it was a good deal for him.
But, this girl ... or maybe I should call her a woman, as she was just about hitting the wall at the time ... was the definition of a spoiled princess. She was one of those girls who used to look insanely hot, but was right at the age where that magic started to fade away.
This woman was so vapid she had trouble writing coherent sentences without obvious spelling mistakes. I am surprised how she managed to operate a camera with any sort of decency.
Either way, two examples of her character:
One time, she was tasked to put her photographs into the website, into a gallery that was made up of a 4 column grid. She was just showing her work to our boss when I came by to discuss some of my own work. I casually noticed that the last row wasn't filled up in all columns and suggested it would look better if it was. My boss said it was a good idea.
End of story. Right? Nope. Some days later my boss wanted to talk to me and told me that that woman had come to him and had cried because of me. Now, while I didn't deeply respect my boss, he definitely respected (or at least valued) me to a certain amount, so he didn't take it out on me or anything, merely suggested I talk to her about it.
Okay, I go to the neighboring room where she sits, working. I ask her what the deal is, wanting to know why she had cried. What could I have possibly done?
She first said something like "whatever", but I insisted she tell me what it was about so we can resolve it.
So she told me. It was about that time when I suggested that she fill up the last row with another image. Mind you, I wasn't even saying that SHE should do it or anything or that she had done a bad job, just that it would look better. But apparently this hurt her so much she ended up crying to my boss about it. She told me "No need to talk shit about my work in front of our boss".
I frowned, confused about how that could be such a big issue and said something to the power of "well, but, you are being paid to work here anyway, right? Why is my suggestion such a big problem?" I didn't say it in a condescending tone as much as in a confused one, as I personally was actually happy to do my work there in exchange for the money I got. She probably found that offending as well, and refused to talk to me further.
No further comments necessary.
Another example, though I don't remember the precise details, was when another colleague wanted her to do something that was reasonably within what she was hired to do, but she didn't want it. She grew so offended she decided to just go home. I think they somehow managed to keep her from going home; but certainly not by putting her in her place or anything, but rather by being super apologetic and nice to her, trying to convince her to stay.
This girl and the fact that she was hired is one example of why I didn't respect my boss. Granted, he was manipulative himself and simply used her for cheap work, but at the cost of having to take care of her childlike feelings all the fucking time and walking on eggshells. And the other coworkers didn't always share his overly mild-mannered approach and sometimes confronted her with some ... gasp ... opinions of their own.
Well, anyway, that's it.
TLDR: Spoiled princess at work cried to my boss because I had suggested she fill up the last row in a gallery grid with another photograph. Once she also decided to just go home because she was offended over having been asked to do something.
