Ok everyone, I've been a lurker for a bit now and want to talk to you guys about careers.

One of the cornerstones of MGTOW (that I've noticed), is financial freedom. A lot of men in the sub, and through the whole MGTOW community via Youtube and other sources, stress financial freedom. A lot of members advocate working hard for 10-15 years, and taking the rest of your money and attempting to live off of that for the rest of your life.

So, the real question is, how are you guys attempting to do this. Unless you are opting to live in your van, the typical 25-50k job doesn't really allow for saving that much, once you take out rent, taxes, food, gas, car insurance (if you have a car). Theres also the possibility of student loans, and other expenses etc..

So please comment, tell me about your careers, the trajectory you either plan on, or already took to make this a reality. I know a lot of you will say "this isn't the sub for this" but I dont believe theres a sub more applicable.

I personally graduated with a degree in MIS, and after a year - two years or so of working, I am still only qualified to do a 30-40k help desk support position. If I continue to take on more responsibilities I can leverage a little better paying position in a couple years, maybe a bump to 50. It will take a very long time to even broach 70-80 with this career path.

I'm interested in repeating the successes, real or theoretical that you guys either plan to, or currently have. I'd love to spend a half a year, plus to learn a technology, trade, way of making money work for me, etc.. to leverage more money so I can make a plan to be financially independent. I believe the path I'm on is just going to bankrupt me in 5 years when or if i develop cancer or some other type of emergency that could easily wipe all my savings.
