I got my first accounting job at the end of Jan. I have been there for 2 months. I am currently finishing my masters in accounting so I work 30 hours a week and do school full time. My boss sat down with me and has said his faith in me has been waning. I feel like I will be fired soon.

I have made a few mistakes. Where I over received inventory and made a few mistakes. I also made mistakes on two reports that go out to the VP of sales. The first report I can see where I went wrong but after they "reviewed" the report they told me to fix it. I did but I was in a rush because they kept me later than normal and I had to leave to take a test. The other report that was wrong has been wrong the past couple of times. Usually it is because the VP of sales keeps changing how he wants to see the reports and what other information he wants on it.

Where I really fail at is when they check the numbers. We pull customer information from our accounting system into an excel sheet. Then we manipulate the data in a pivot table. Then because the initial data is bad I have to go through the report and make it right. One customer will be in one area and they shouldn't be. Then we have one customer who is spread out among the states and I have to remove them from the states they shouldn't be in. First they showed me to look at individual customers and pull up the customer in our accounting system and make sure the numbers are right.

Then on this last one they showed me a new check figure. They took a p&l report and compared total sales with the report. That was off and said the report was right. After about 4 hours of going through the report with them we came to the conclusion the numbers were right. After we cleared all the filters from the pivot table the sales for the ytd match what was on the pivot table.

When they talked to me, it was after all of this. I am thinking they will either let me go or I need to quit. Because I feel like I am not getting the proper training I need.

I should add this isn't my first job. I worked as an operations analyst. My boss said I am doing good in the other parts of my job, which is doing the company's AP.

They also let go one of the other AP clerks. So Now it is just me and one other person who is running all of AP.

Will it look bad if I quit to concentrate on finding a different job that I can learn to be an actual accountant? I know it will look bad if they Let me go with just 2 months into the job.
