You know... for a lot of guys, memories of their mother keeps the blue pill dream alive in the face of painfully obvious truth. It took me a long time to see the ways my mother fucked my head up. I've often wondered if my mother were a little worse and I didn't have a lot of nice memories of her if that would make seeing the truth easier for me.

But, I can't imagine what it would be like to have a childhood like that. Jesus. You've humbled me. I'm very happy you're living with your father now.

It's actually about a girl being abused both by the mother and by the men she kept company with. Horrific shit. But yeah I know you're posting to highlight that women, mothers specifically, are not and should not be immune from criticism.

Feminists can shitpost all the deadbeat dad stats they want, doesn't change objective reality. Women abuse children just as much or more than men.

You have a lot going for you, now. Make everything you can of yourself and allow the message to sink in for your mother: she didn't have to continue the cycle of abuse, because you endured it and still became a healthy, strong, and moral person.

I didn't read the entire story. However I understand. Mother was abusive as per usual. Mine is and so is my sister as a mother. They should never be left alone with kids. For me all the women in my family are abusive mothers and the fathers are not to bad I never met my dad just stories through my crazy mom. My step dad was abusive as shit until I became an adult and I confronted him, now he doesn't talk to me much. Anyway. Life goes on, how you live it is your choice not theirs.

This post definitely struck a cord with me.

My mother is a sexist and I have 3 sisters and no brothers. My older sister once clamped her hair straightener on my arm and caused some burns. I went straight to my mother about it and she asked me, "What did you do to deserve it?". My sisters were always allowed to hit me and throw hard objects at me but all they had to do was produce crocodile tears and my mother would descend wrath upon me.

Looking back on the past I even came to the realization that my mother had been trying to gaslight me as well. She constantly told me that things didn't happen and that she knows better than me. Luckily I never believed a word she said and had complete faith in my memories.

I had started getting fat near the end of high school and beginning of University and my mother would constantly make fun of me for it. She would belittle me, poke my stomach and mock it. It felt so amazing when I had spent a summer getting in shape and she hadn't noticed yet. She started her usual mocking of my weight and I just took my shirt off and shut her up right then and there. The look on her face was priceless as she promptly shut the fuck up. She did not congratulate me on getting in shape but at least that was the last time she made fun of my physical appearance.

And now I find myself likely needing to move in with her for the next 6 months. I hope I can survive.
