i was thinking we should do some weekly threads. one i'd like to start is MGTOW movie of the week. where we can post about one MGTOW themes movie and discuss its themes and topics.

my first selection: SHAME 2011, a film by Steve McQueen.

why its MGTOW related: this is a weird choice but i think provocative. the movie stars Michael Fassbender as a man consumed by sexual addiction to porn and whores, yet unable to connect to most normal people or his sister living a sad and isolated life.

so why MGTOW...for me its a really interesting look at sexual addiction but also just self shame....and the lengths we'll go to avoid pain by base animalistic pleasures. though Fassbenders character Brandon is ultimately a tragic and sad character I think many men can relate to him, isolated, still genetically coded to want to cum and addicted to the women form but unable to actually date or deal with them in any real way. At one point he tries to date a girl at his office but finds the act or sensual love ultimately unfulfilling and kicks her out and calls a whore. The movie captures well the man's inability to kick his primal sexual nature. yet I find the portrayal of women to be particularly interesting. 3 examples;

1.) the beginning and end of the film end with Fassbender spoting a hot married girl on the train. they want each other and in the first scene Fassbender falls into his addiction spiral and chases her, but loses her in the crowd. after a torturous movie where he really struggles with his addiction the movie ends with the same situation and same girl. she goes to the pole to show she wants him to chase her again (both shots show wedding ring), but he looks on wondering...an ambiguity that seems to mark both his desire to obviously fuck this hot girl but his disillusionment in love and women cause this girl is married. the women is presented as a beautiful creature but devoid of morality, a temptation to this mans morality when she has none.

2.) his sister Sissy; played by CArey Mulligan, his sister crashes his MGTOW life. he is happy jerking off all day and being alone, but she comes into his life. she is a wreck. every scene she is presented as the loose cannon crazy woman. She fucks Fassbenders boss and then stalks and calls him even though he has a family. first time we are introduced to her it sounds like she is calling an ex of hers, crying about how much she still loves him, in a pathetic overly dramatic way. we learn later on she was a cutter and she later tries to slit her wrists. she is pure drama. Even though Brandon loves her she is always a nuisance and the suicide attempt at the end shows how little she cares for Brandon.

here we see Fassbender on a sexual bender. just wanting to get off. he's in tough place with his sister and not happy, so looking for pleasure, here we see him uses his masculine force to totally get this fuck toy to want him even though her boyfriend is literally 10ft away. Unfortunately for him he's a strong guy, but even then shows how a Chad can come in and swoop even a strong buff guys girl away in two seconds.

4.) first bar scene - here we see his boss try to pick up a chick at the bar. she of course falls for the Fassbender (he's so CHAD0 and later picks him up off the street to fuck him in a corner (the power of Chad).

Overall its an intense movie and quite tragic, but is an interesting look at a man really struggling with sexual identity. he is for sure a MGTOW guy thru and thru, works and pumps and dumps only. his sexual relationships exist but are with whores or pump and dumps. he seems quite annoyed by concepts of love and familial love when it comes to his sister. Though i think many of us find great happiness in MGTOW I think the feeling of shame and guilt this movie touches on are real. i know i've felt it, that going full MGTOW i don't have that goal of a woman anymore, but my body continually pushes me to that, it can lead to some really hard times where you're horny and in mating mode but your mind is forever MGTOW detached. he yearns for some for of companionship but its clear how McQueen portrays women that he doesn't think men and women can really match beyond base sexual urges to which the man is just as much a slave to as the woman.
