To easier remind myself of the guidelines I want to follow, I came up with this acronym, standing for "Bedtime, Affection, Development, Activity, Soups, Salads".
BEDTIME
Having severe insomnia sometimes, I usually fell asleep only between 03:00 and 04:00. That had become a habit, and I woke up around noon. I decided to move my insomnia-period to earlier hours so that I'd wake up at 07:00, in spite of the traumaticly exhausting first days in setting a new sleep schedule. I also stopped reading in bed and set an alarm for going to bed as well as waking up. I'm super-happy with the result: It's like landing on another planet. I constantly have to discipline myself however bec. such regularity, esp. with insomnia, comes at the price of great discipline. I am "amongst the living" again in my own timezone and can enjoy all of the light of the day.
AFFECTION
This is something I assume is most lacking in MGTOW's lives - at least in mine it is. I suppose that all people, except those with severe Schizoid Personality Disorder (not to be confused with Schizophrenia!) need intimacy of some sort. Since the lack of this is bugging me, I put it into my acronym as something to be improved. It could be getting a pet (a serious commitment) or finding a suitable prostitute, or just talk to a lonely old person in a park.
DEVELOPMENT
This entails physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, intellectual improvement. So it encompasses reading, creativity, studying, building a business, progressing in a sport etc.
ACTIVITY
The fabled lifting but also going on walks, swimming, cycling etc. It's amazing how good one feels after a long, brisk walk and how much the T-levels rise. Also, and especially losing weight does wonders for your Testosterone. Low T is a major cause of depression and moodiness.
SOUPS & SALADS
To remind oneself of a correct diet is extremely important, so I added these two items. I got from morbidly obese to slim and athletic in just a year and my protein-rich, low-carb diet started to cause very severe constipation (I'm over 50) and also was always the same few foodstuffs like cottage cheese, ham, canned fish and stirfired veggies with meat and the occasional salad or nuts. I now want to spend more effort in regularly cooking rich soups and making varied salads to get a wider variety of nutrients and fiber. I chuck in anything that's fresh and available, the more the merrier. Salads keep for two days (and then I eat three, four bowls a day, basically salad all day..), soups can be constantly re-sterilized by boiling. They can be different every time, keep you hydrated, are low-calorie, can be rich in any nutrient you bother to add and promote, um, "digestion".
