I think it will be a slow collapse. Expect higher taxes, higher prices, and lower wages. The only way there would a complete collapse is if the government essentially implemented communism or the government was overthrown. As long as the government can pay the police, judges, and army, the free market will adjust.

Families will be starving before a single man has to worry. A single man can save more for retirement relative to the cost of living than any family.

Put the wrong people with no knowledge of 'structural integrity' in power and wait for them to remove just the right piece. What right / value that piece signifies is in the eye of the beholder.

It hasn't (and probably won't) come crashing down when that happens. More like start smouldering and catch fire till it burns down.

If hyperinflation combined with AI automation wiping out jobs happen and our government doesn't free up more opportunities, I think it could collapse pretty quick.

The only good news I can say is that our collapse would take everyone else down with us. The American consumption economy is what's driving development in AI and increasing debt, while being the backbone of practically every other country's economy.

Considering the potential fallout from the latest things snuck into the latest spending bill, the US might be in for a shock. Craigslist closing it's personals is just the start. Tinder will shutdown, maybe even Bumble and Snapchat, less they face liability. The thots will seethe. We might have another pussy hat march.
