This is fantastic and so true. Not the James Bond part, but I definitely know many men in my real life who hope to be inventors and make their product the new must-have. /r/arduino is a great resource!

It's partially true for me....

i might be wrong but, this is why most of the left wing people i see are women
[–]iamlikethewindbaby 17 points18 points19 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The majority of women are left wing because under liberal governments everything is provided for them, but nothing is paid for by them.
Do you see? Do you see! Do you see!?

They say socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money. That is exactly the outlook modern women have. Suck the man dry and move on to the next one.

Gibs mees vs meritocracy. Woman want the bar lowered not raise themselves up to the bar. Ex: left identity politics.

I've seen my share of conservative women with the same attitude.

Because when women see an ideal woman they aspire to be her, like Marilyn Monroe or Sigourney Weaver.
When a man sees an ideal man, he makes a reddit post on /r/Incels about how that ideal is not real, or not what women want, or a crazy obsessed person who hates themselves, etc.
Women climb the mountain to reach the top. Men complain that there is a mountain top, and declare nice guys like themselves to be the new mountain top.

Thus spoke the truth
[–]somefrommars2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is so true. Whenever I have come across a man who is better than me in some way; I admired their qualities. Though I'd feel inferior, I knew that men of quality are men to strive to be like even if it wasn't possible for me to reach their level or whatever the case may be.
While many women judge a woman, who they think looks better than them or gets more attention.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly. At the VERY least we have respect for men who accomplish much. Notice how most of history has been written by men and - until the last few decades - it was common to focus on the movers and shakers of history: great generals/inventors/musicians, etc. The current trend in historiography is to tell history from the perspective of the common man (although this is useful and I applaud gaining historical knowledge of all kinds, this trend was motivated by leftists who want to undermine the value of the individual.)
Personally, I ask questions if I meet such a man and try to learn from him. I may envy his success, but I don't resent him for it. Sure, some are merely lucky, but more often than not that luck was forged from tenacity. Ernest Shackleton anyone?
[–]somefrommars0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I totally agree with you said. Yes, being envious of someone's success doesn't mean you hate them; it just means you are aware that circumstances could be better for you so you find a way of improving if possible.
Thank you for telling me about Ernest -- I will check him out.

I disagree with this whole thing asserting that only men seek to achieve the ideal, while women complain about the ideal. Have you not seen the neckbeard population whining about how "nice" they are and how it's unfair that they don't get dates with pretty women, rather than losing weight/taking a shower/quit playing videogames all day?
