My longest childhood friend who I’ve known for my whole 25 years I’ve been alive is getting married in April. When I went off to school we kinda fell out of touch but we still hung out when I came home usually and we still hung out after I graduated here and there. Besides when she was involved... She is his land whale fiancé that weighs over 300 lbs at 5’9 and has manipulated him into thinking she is the best he can do. She’s essentially making him less healthy and not helping him or really adding/contributing to his life in any positive way. I only see lots of medical bills and headaches in his future because of her. He asked me to be one of his groomsmen a few weeks ago and I didn’t say anything at the time. So he texts me a few days ago and asks again to confirm if I’m in or out. I waited a few hours to text him back and was thinking about what I should do.

I decided to decline the offer, I didn’t give him a specific reason (I’ve never talked to him about what I think of her and their relationship). I just said thanks for the consideration, but no thank you. I really don’t like weddings, and I didn’t want to really participate to his wedding by being a groomsman because I don’t support the wedding in the first place obviously.

Lately he has been acting a lot more standoffish and not as warm and friendly as he once was when we do hang out, and I suspect it’s because of her. Saw him tonight to catch a movie with a few other friends and he wouldn’t even look at me or address me.

Long story short, especially for you younger fellas like me; eventually you’re going to have to choose in certain situations like this. Maybe you won’t have the same situation or you won’t have the same possible choices to make, but there are going to come times where you can either sacrifice your peace of mind for the sake of not saying no or causing any distress. Or you’re going to have to say no and face the consequences of maybe losing some blue pilled friends that you’ve had for a while.
