My previous post didn't get much attention, but i did get a few PMs echoing my roommate's girlfriend's sentiments (they were non judgmental and sympathetic and for that i am thankful). I guess irrespective of how much research i do, i can never never be sure that the establishment i visit does not have a history of abuse or misconduct. So for now i decided to put this plan on the backseat (i am slightly disappointed). Maybe if my situation is the same after 2 or 3 years (yikes), ill reconsider.
In the mean time i told my roommate politely but sternly to tell his girlfriend not to interfere and to keep her opinions and judgement to herself. I told him if it continues, I may have to involve the landlord and restrict her visits to our house. Well it seemed to have worked. She doesn't talk to me now but i can definitely sense her disdain from afar. I guess i can continue on with my unfulfilling yet comfortable life for now. I want to thank the few people who replied for their judgement free response. The advice was really helpful.
tl;dr: Decided to reconsider and told the roommate and his girlfriend to keep thier opinions to themselves.
