My poor friend is being such a white knight. Can you guys leave some responses as to why the “ultimatum” women give is a manipulation tactic?

Just the fact that she gave an ultimatum you should either quietly kick her out and cut her off or go full scorched earth. You do NOT negotiate with terrorists. A woman that loves you will not do this. She would ask what you want and work toward a shared goal. Oh wait. How many women actually love men?

I realize that you care about your friend but if he is not ready to see there isn't much you can do. Leading by example is always the best approach. Provide him with advice when he asks but not when it's unsolicited. Maybe some day he will see what is causing him problems and your example will be a positive one in his life.

Ultimatum's are a bad idea because they are a threat. They are a threat that you submit to out of fear. You're not doing something because you want to, you do it because someone put a gun to your head. Like this: "I want to be with you." vs "If you don't go out with me, I'll kill myself."

By using an ultimatum, you are being pressured into doing something that you normally wouldn't do. You can't do these things out of fear. And usually a ultimatum is about an end goal and you are a means to an end. "Marry me or I'm leaving you!" Translated it means that she basically did whatever in order to get you to marry her. Meaning she didn't care about YOU, she cared about her goal.

A bully says, "Give me your money or I'll break your nose."
