It was very satisfying to me.

I hate it when people are punished for being who they are.

I hate it when being natural is not respected even if not appreciated.

When Betsy dumped him for the movie, it was frustrating to see how Travis got devastated; but dude recovered well.

I thought the movie was some old marine and his PTSD-related shit, but seems like the movie is also a nice /r/MGTOW/ material.

It reminded me a lot of Great Expectations. Its been a long time since I've seen Taxi Driver, and much longer since I've read Great Expectations, so I don't remember specifics as much as overall feeling. I vauguely recall how Pip lusted over whatever the girls name was to no avail, but then at the end spurned her advances on to him and drove away.
