I've advised a few young men before marriage on protecting their assets. If you come at it directly, they bristle up and won't take advice. In other words you can't say "do X in case she divorces you". They are so soppy and in love that they can't believe that could happen. The way to get them to accept my good advice (usually paid for by their fathers) is to say "what if you or your wife to be set up a business and went bust? You wouldn't like your creditors to get the money that should be going down to your children, right? Why didn't we set up a little trust here for the unborn children to make sure the money ends up where it ought to be even if you have a few false starts on your way to being the CEO of your own corporation?" The boys will do that. Even if they're dumb as shit and never going to set up a business of their own, they like to think they could. Then we put whatever property's been endowed to them in trust for the unborns. So if dad bought the kid a house, now it's in trust for the unborn kids of the marriage. Dad and I know what that really means. The bitch can't get it if they divorce because it's a trust asset, not a marital asset. We just nod and smile while the boys signs the papers and tells his girlfriend it's all for the good of the babies they'll have when they're married. Worst case, the boy and his bitch live to old age, die, and the property goes to their kids via the trust. No harm no foul. At that point some unborn lawyer following my footsteps can give the same advice again to safe guard the next generation.
