Don't forget men shit test too, except it's not so they can get hard for you (unless they're fags) but to test the boundaries.

Everyone tests boundaries and sees how you deal with them subconsciously, even little kids.

It's so we all have an idea who's where in the social hierarchy, who can be exploited and who's a threat if we don't respect them.

I believe respect comes from threat/fear or admiration.

Absolutely agree about the respect part. I think respect is basically earned by being in control. Of everything, your speech, your posture, your body, your brain, your career, your surroundings, your living space, and where it gets a bit controversial, but nevertheless: to a certain extent of other people, including her.

Whether love or lust gets the second place is more of an age thing. Perhaps, pre-wall lust, post-wall love. Then again, I can't really tell the difference between love an respect, can you? If by love you mean something like "likeability" then that is clearly last place, OK. But there is a certain kind of respectful love that can outrank lust when people get older and no longer so hormone driven, and I can't really tell if it is more respect than love or more love than respect.
