I'm sure some of you guys have been through this before. What the fuck can he do? He just got into a doctoral program and this bitch could completely ruin his life. He hasn't even talked to her in 6 months. I tried googling advice but I couldn't find anything.

Kind words are certainly appreciated, but I really really need some practical next steps. He's coming over now to give me the full story so I'll update a bit later.

Update: So her new heroin junkie friend (who used to be friends with my bro) just called my bro and told him that he got a call from a detective inquiring about an incident that happened 3 years ago. The night of the incident, the junkie dude punched my bro in the face. He also said that he told the detective that my bro raped the ex-fiance. The junkie dude and the fiance apparently hung out 2 weeks ago, but when my bro asked him if he had talked to her, he denied it.

So we know that the junkie dude is lying, even though he keeps on acting like my bro's friend. The junkie ex-fiance might not even be involved. It's impossible to know at this point. My question now is, what could he/they possibly get out of this? Do you think they're trying to get him to settle out of court? My bro comes from a wealthy family so it would sort of make sense.

Update 2: So we're pretty sure the junkie guy talking to a detective was a complete fabrication. The ex was likely not even involved. We aren't positive, but we suspect he was trying to extort money from my bro, or at least feel out the situation. It could also have been for shits and giggles (the junkie guy is nuts). My friend contacted his lawyer on retainer just in case and he cut off all contact from the junkie guy and the junkie ex (well, it's not like he was talking to them anyway). Unfortunately he forgot to record the phone conversations he had with the junkie guy but he obviously still has the texts.
