Same reason there was a sudden surge of "girl gamers" when gaming stopped being for nerds and went mainstream among men.

Whenever men create a sufficiently large "club" of sorts, women inevitably seek to plop themselves into the middle of it and use the fact that they are one of the very few women in the room to their advantage.

MGTOW, or in a more general sense men who have become fed up with gynocentrism, is rapidly becoming one of those clubs that women feel an increasing urgency to infiltrate.

And so the "I totally sympathize with you guys! Women are like, totally bitches now! Good thing I'm not like that!" argument was born.
