TL;DR: Don't let yourself become too invested in a woman. Things can go bad. Every man has a breaking point. Men typically don't ask for help; they carry increasingly bad emotional investments until they break him. The danger is real.

What drives a man over the edge? Just today in the news, a man who police admit "had no history of violence or mental illness" shoots his kids and ex-wife. Before killing himself, he calls 911 and can be overheard saying to his ex-wife: "I want you to suffer like I have."

A few weeks ago, I found the Clifford Burns police interrogation video on YouTube. He had just murdered his ex-wife. To me, it's heartbreaking -- and too familiar. He goes from rage to tears to desperation, explaining how his ex-wife and the courts have ruined him financially, and broken him as a man. He admits his life is over.

Let us not forget Thomas James Ball or Christopher Mackney. They both killed themselves after devastating divorce rapes. (the irony: Thomas Ball killed himself in a state whose motto is Live Free or Die).

And so many more fathers. NONE WITH A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE or MENTAL ILLNESS. Violence is unacceptable. But, in some cases, it's to be expected.

Everyone knows that OJ Simpson's ex-wife was murdered. You younger Redditors might not know her throat was so deeply cut, she was nearly decapitated. I remember an older (married) friend the next day saying OJ was guilty. But there hadn't yet been an investigation, or any arrests. "How do you know?" "Because only a woman could drive a man THAT CRAZY!"

I love the funny memes and the crazy stories we share on this sub. But you younger Redditors: find the seriousness in the humor. Very few of us are destined for violent endings, but if you are, it's a woman who will bring you there. Be careful.
