Advice on moving forward. Never forget how you felt caged in that house with her. Never forget the moments of peace you have now (aside from worrying over how indentured you are about to become "for the children"). Don't forget as the next woman comes along, trying her best to trick you into thinking it was an isolated incident you went through here. Your circumstances are the norm, not the exception.

Now is time for you to reset yourself. Explore what makes you tick, what are the things you had passion for before she tried killing it off. Immerse yourself in you and the rest will fall into place brother.

The good news, is that 6 months from now - a year top, you'll have a stable base from where to recover and strive again.

Tough situation man. Think about it this way, this is the worst your life is ever going to be, at this moment in time. After you get through this, and you will, you'll be happier then you've ever been.

I know it will probably be tough financially for awhile but you'll survive and be able to provide for your kids. Money is good but knowledge and skills are better, use this time to better yourself, at your leisure. Go to the gym - get healthy, learn a second language, do charity - do whatever you want to do.

I'm 8 years into the nightmare you are entering.

You are about to take a big ole bite of a massive shit sandwich... you will experience depression, desperation, fear and loathing in heaping spoonfuls.

This is perfectly normal.

You will have to lawyer up, but don't go crazy hiring a lawyer. This is a cookie-cutter process which the court follows everyday so unless there are unusual circumstances there is very little wiggle room. I burned through my entire retirement hiring a high power lawyer, (the retainer alone was $20k); made no difference whatsoever.

The judge will order "arbitration" which is just a bullshit way to extract more resources from you. The judge is following a formula and no amount of reason and logic is going to change the outcome. Arbitration is designed to force you to accept the family court's terms... you'll be paying for a retired judge to mediate so that the longer arbitration goes on the more it costs you, which will force you to accept the terms the court is going to enforce anyway.

The details will vary depending on where you are but the court is just following a script, so unless you are wealthy the judge already knows what the outcome will be before you even show up for court.

It's going to seem hopeless and you will feel despair.

What you can't see over the event horizon are the hidden benefits you will experience after the dust settles.

What looks like financial devastation right now is going to surprise you. They are going to rape you financially, but what you can't see right now is the massive financial upgrade you are about to encounter. What you will discover is that prior to whatever shitty deal the court hands down to you, it's a much better deal than the 100% financial liability you have been living under for years. I was shocked to discover how much better my finances became even with the court ordered theft of my resources.

You are escaping the plantation guy... your lifestyle can get a major upgrade once you have shed all that bullshit female, throw-pillow nonsense... you will not believe you ever lived how you have been living.
