I work part time as a lifeguard. Mostly because it's a relatively simple job that I enjoy.

When I first started as a ripe 16 year old getting all my qualifications, lifeguarding was still a relatively female-dominated job but you still had around a 20% male population.

4 years later, I've seen it change dramatically as less and less guys want to become lifeguards. There are often shifts I'm supervising now that have all my guards as females. I also teach the lifesaving courses a little bit and I notice the classes, as you get higher, less and less guys enroll. Ironically, it seems to be female instructors that teach the courses above mine in which point boys usually quit.

In those lifesaving courses, you aren't really teaching them how to swim anymore; you're teaching them to save lives and also low-key get deeper into lifeguarding. Now the problem is, men tend to fit better in these role-model type positions while women tend to be the hands on, teaching the little ones how to swim. But now with municipalities hiring less and less role-model type figures, it's discouraging young boys from advancing to lifeguarding and in my opinion, there is way too much feminine energy in the workplace. I believe the way to train good staff is to have that mixture of male and female energy. But when you have a 95% female population, it's really not good for anybody.
