Hi MGTOW,

I'm a biological anthropologist in training who studies the science around the evolution of gender hierarchies, hormones, and human behavior. As you might imagine, I've lurked men's rights groups for a while and am doing a small, anonymous research project on the motivations to joining groups like MGTOW. While my major research trajectory is more wet lab type stuff, I also want to start exploring the motivations, solidarity, and health effects of participating in men's rights groups. Because I'm not the best at human interactions, I'm hoping to start with Reddit and online ethnography, but if anyone wants to talk to me over Skype or respond to more structured questions, I'd love to listen to your perspective.

I was hoping to start with a really simple survey (although comment responses are valued). The survey allows you to respond without having other people see what you say and influence your list, something important for assessing whether subreddit members identify similar major motivations for MGTOW.

Obviously I have nothing real to offer in return: there's no consent process because I won't collect or reveal any personal identity information and have no plans to publish anything that comes from this preliminary toe in the water, but I will compile the responses I receive and post them back here and any analyses (some really basic bio anthro freelist stats).

The google form below asks the same thing in my subject: What are the major motivations that lead men to participate in MGTOW and men's rights groups? Sometimes people think about this in terms of what made them take the red pill, but I want to know more generally what you'd say the most important factors for men are in ending up MGTOW. List as many as you can.
