Agreed. I can only speak from what I have seen myself in the UK. I come from a working class background, raised near London. 95% of the women I have known since school who had good education, went through college and university haven't pursued careers. Many have gone in to retail, beauty and for the most part entry level jobs and stayed there. They were never career motivated...simply killing time until they found a man, proudly wearing that badge of Independence to help lure him. Once man is found the common routine is go part time then eventually quit working as soon as the man progresses to the point where he can afford to keep the household on just his income.

Statistics tell us that for optimal child rearing at least one parent needs to be dedicated to parenting. So in my opinion having a child should greatly effect at least one parents career. The women already volunteered themselves to take this 'career hit' early on and it's not a bad thing, they just insist on whining about it.

What I do find frustrating is:

Wasted education - women in the UK took up valuable academic seats and payed for higher education using student loans that don't have to be paid off unless student reaches a threshhold of earning (they never reach this threshold and never planned to).
Education has been tailored to girls and so boys are falling behind...education that women have little intention to make use of. At the end of it...men are still expected to succeed and become the primary bread winners.
The workplace has been geared towards women who don't want to stay there. Big male dominated industries have been allowed to die and move overseas to favour nice cosy jobs that women want to do too. Apprenticeships have died out...they are few and far between today and many cannot afford to work in an apprenticeship. Once again...men tend to do well in apprentice based learning...women less so.
The entire economy has been geared to women working and the two income trap effects us all. This is why single young ones are staying at home with their parents well in to their 30's today. Once again...women made their beds and generally they don't want to lie in them. They want to find a man...have babies and either go part time or quit.

Workplace geared towards women working...they don't want to work.

Economy geared towards women working...they don't want to work and expect men to pick up the slack financially.

Education geared towards women...yet they make bugger all use of it.

Women given the right to vote...yet they have bugger all interest in politics and subsequently bugger all ability to make an informed vote. On a plus side they do have an in depth knowledge of the Khardashian family.

The list goes on....and on....and on!!

I would argue there is some truth to that. My mother only worked part-time so she would be able to take my sister and I to school and be off work early enough to be able to pick us up from school. She would have just worked full-time if she didn't give a shit.
