Women's relationship to prostitutes is complicated. If women were the in fact the emphatic gender, you would expect them to be all over helping sex workers but they don't.

On one hand, the existence of prostitute is a great tool in the female valuation manipulation. Women increase their value in a number of ways. One primary method is in comparison to other women. One comparison is desirability to men. The more desirable a woman is to men the higher the value of the woman. The prostitute has a rating of zero in this comparison. So, if a woman is not a prostitute she automatically is more desirable.

On the other hand, prostitution hurts the market price of sex. The government imposed price on a male for sex with a women is all of the male's resources and loss of his personal freedom. The price for prostitution lowers the overall average cost for sex. Women cannot tolerate the lowering the government imposed price by competition. The effect is prostitution, although an extremely hard crime to prove, will remain illegal.
