How can a single man start a family? How can he use IVF?

That is not a "right". The little minions at the World Health Organization changed THEIR definition of 'infertility' and seek the power to pressure governments to enact health policies that fit their standard. This is centralized herd mentality and it is very, very dangerous.

Ah, finally. I know most of you are against this, but I'm quite happy: knowing the actual going market rate for a child is fantastic. Think about all the jobs for women this can make that will get them out of the rest of the labour force!

Reading the other comments, it almost seems the other posters missed the comments about "paid surrogacy", or don't understand that it is straight up paying women to get pregnant and have a kid for someone else. I wonder how many women will jump at the opportunity to have a job that pays them to just live their life while pregnant. Low skill... probably high wage. Heck, this might even get them out of academia considering when they're most fertile and will be able to command the highest wage.

The upsides of commodification. Let's know just how much a baby costs... how much one womans egg costs compared to another, and how much one mans sperm costs compared to another. This is market economics jumping into the most primal aspects of life. Maybe it will get women to realize that having children is more valuable then having a job.

So let me get this straight. A sexually inactive woman can get IVF despite having zero conception issues, meet a dude on Tinder and get knocked up with quintuplets.

I'm actually astounded that they went gender-neutral on this issue. I don't think it would have gone that way in the States. We're still too hidebound with the idea that women want parenthood and men only care about sex, so men must be forced to pay child support by government.

What's really needed though is a legal reform. We need to stop using marriage as a way to establish paternity rights. It always sucked for that anyway, since lots of men eventually discover they have been supporting another man's child for years. So imagine instead a legally binding "shared parenting agreement" like you get coming out of a divorce, except you can walk away from negotiations if it's a shitty deal. Two virgins could have children together with shared custody and expenses.

Fathers would finally be chosen for their ability to be reliable, ethical, and responsible role models and parents, not for their red hot bad boy sexiness that one time drunk in a back alley that she barely remembers..
