My Grandmother, she was married 3 times, making my eldest Aunt the only child she had with her first husband. She tells my Aunt and her siblings he was a drunk, no good womanizer who wanted nothing to do with her and would never call or send birthday wishes etc. Fast Forward- First husband dies slow death from complications following a heart attack, in that time reaches out to my Aunt to say goodbye, confesses attempts at visitation/being a father to her. He dies. At the estate settlement, comes to find that in fact her father was rather industrious and hard working and was in fact a millionaire, Aunt proceeds to have small talk with step-siblings and finds out that my grandmother told her dad that she wanted nothing to do with him so he gave up trying to contact her. End of the story is that because my grandmother disliked her first husband and kept his child from him, years later she was only given 10,000 dollars in his will, compared to the 15 million her step-sisters received. Moral of the story is that you can't even trust your mother to do what's in your best interest.
