That is everywhere. I can't think of one romantic show or theme in a book where it was the woman doing anything but receiving.

in RoK, all men of an age group are conscripted. males that have yet to serve, are not yet considered 'men', by their society's standards. i watch kdrama and kpop. its rife. on the other hand, you see plenty of 'but dat wall, doh', with regard to women. especially on the talk shows and variety shows. for the sake of entertainment, people in RoK, know without a doubt, that physical beauty only lasts so long. hence them being the new masters of surgeries to prolong it. its a weird balance. a student that graduates with perfect scores, and gets an engineering degree from one of their big three schools is almost guaranteed a six figure salary and his pick of waifu. the whole damn country promotes it, as a way to ensure that a beautiful female's genes are propagated and supported by an intelligent [worked-to-death] man. equally, like a 1950s novel, even beautiful women are shamed, if they cant run a household [so as to say, they are undeserving of a six figure man] its weird man... super weird. ive seen plenty of older but out-from-limelight models and actresses that try to reignite their careers, and confess they made mistakes and want to get back to work and find a husband. that they live with their parents [almost age 30] and feel the shame of not buying into the whole wife-husband thing early. its sort of ironic and yet refreshing to hear it on these shows... i digress. and so... for all intents, they are still at war with the north... you dig ?
