Honest question, looking for thoughts on the subject.

Had a recent conversation between me and my two roommates (one guy and one girl). We've all been friends for 10 years and never dated each other, just all met at an old job and needed an place and I trusted them.

So the conversation was about kids and it got sour real quick. All of us are single now and I am leaning "don't want kids", my buddy is "i only want kids with the right woman" and my female friend is like "I have to have kids but i want to get a man first". Big surprise on all 3 right?

So my question is this... why not let everyone want what they want? I've seen women get visibily distraught when men don't want kids or have negative reactions to kids. Lots of women DON'T want kids, so are they shunned too or do they give women a pass? What about women that want to but can't get pregnant? Why is it a man's "fault" for just expressing his own desires?
