It requires you to pay like 2 or 3 USD for one episode, and the whole season has a slight discount assuming there are at least 12 episodes like last season.

 

Some good points:

  • Modern weddings follow the old style of rich people weddings: displays of wealth

  • Refers to the inverse relationship between wedding expenditures to divorce rates

  • Marriage was initially meant for making economic or political deals

  • Marriages formed under the basis of "true love" were considered irresponsible and are (obviously) prone to early ends

  • The concept of "the one" is bullshit; would require tens of thousands of lifetimes to meet all potential mates

  • Modern marriage is just plain weird as it somehow ties "love" (limerence as they refer to it) to filing joint tax returns

  • Divorce is "good" because it allows couples an exit from bad marriages, no-fault divorce being great for this

 

Unfortunately he doesn't address the multiple elephants in the room. They even reference one of them with a cartoon horse asking, "Who gets the kids?"

  • Absurd alimony rates, especially when accompanied with no-fault divorce

  • Division of wealth including the home

  • Children being given to the mother by default despite the husband being able to afford both nannies and investments in the children's future

  • The whole divorce industry which capitalizes on a couple's misery

  • Why marriage is even necessary when your relationship is defined by "true love" instead of business deals

  • Male suicide (he only references female suicide due to domestic violence when talking about divorce)

 

Overall I think the episode is good as a form of entertainment, and at least he talks about how weddings are just absurd wastes of money. If he had mentioned all of those negative points the episode would have been AMAZING. Wouldn't it be the best way for Adam to "Ruin" weddings (as the title would suggest)?
