I thought this was limited to China, but it's everywhere. People wanting to have more babies if their first 1,2 or 3 are girls.

In Sperm Wars by Robin Baker, studies are cited showing that women who have confidence in their spouses are more likely to have sons.

Basically, if she settled, she doesn't think you have success in your DNA to pass on, so a son is not likely to measure up to hypergamy. Women can always breed, so she has those instead.

Exactly. Marital conflict and daughters both stem from the wife's disrespect.

So having daughters may not be so much a cause of a bad marriage, as a symptom. As always, the issue is in the wife's head (maybe based on reality, maybe not, but certainly that's where the problem lies.)

However, as a man who was married and raised a daughter, I can assure you that there were plenty of times when I withdrew from the hyper-feminine household culture, especially when other mothers and daughters came over.

I have an interesting idea here.

Who gets divorced more? unattractive (beta) males.

Who gets divorced more? men with daughters.

Maybe the two are connected? if the body realizes "shit, I'm not an alpha body, therefore my sons have little chance of being alpha, i'm better off with daughters", then it makes sense to somehow skew the sperm ratio between X and Y chromosomes (and opposite for alphas).

Alternatively a woman might have some biological mechanism to auto abort sons from unattractive males (which would be more complicated for sure).

However, I have a simpler explanation. A man with a son will endure a lot of shit from his hateful wife, hoping to be there for his boy. A man with a daughter looks at her and thinks "she's growing into same bitch as her mother, fuck this family" and leaves. From what I've seen, daughters of bitchy cunts absolutely despise their own fathers.
