I'm sure some of you must watch Rick and Morty, it's a great show if you don't (it gets circle jerked over on reddit pretty hard but it's one of the shows I can understand why) but in the latest episode the husband and wife of the family are at an intergalactic couples therapy and it's supposed to be the best in the universe.
They both put on this headgear that taps into their subconcious and creates a personified version of how they truly view the other person. The husband views the wife as this massive fucking spider like humanoid which is terrifying, and the wife views the husband as this pitiful submissive worried looking worm with the husbands face.
Eventually later in the episode the wife starts to view the husband as her hero and as a result the replication looks like this shirtless ripped hunk. Then the device is placed on this replication and it views the wife as a diety figure with god like powers.
I thought it was pretty interesting and had some relation to how men and women truly view eachother/want to be viewed in some cases. I'd say normally a man views a women closer to a goddess than something evil but later in life after some harsh lessons may start to view them more as evil. I also think a lot of women probably just view the man they're with as some pitiful submissive slug deep down.
