In a biological sense, the alpha male is the male that can spread his DNA and produce the most offspring.

In our society, the male that produces offspring is generally the one who spends resources on the offspring. This can either be time & money if he chooses to raise the offspring or money if he chooses to pay alimonies. Mind that misattributed paternity is between 1%-2% and can therefore be neglected (1 out of 50 times you will produce offspring and not have to spend resources on it).

Now when the male has to spend resources on offspring, that means that he cannot create lots of offspring with multiple women because time or money are limited.

Therefore, by definition, in our society you cannot be a real alpha male in the biological sense without taking the 50:1 risk.

So what exactly are people over at /r/TRP talking about when they talk about being an alpha man?

They talk about 'behaving' like an alpha man by having sex with multiple women. If it wasn't for our advanced society, these alpha men would be spreading their seed. However, human culture constantly evolves and the parameters have changed. Contraceptives, abortion and alimonies are all instruments that ensure that spreading the seed is close to impossible nowadays.

So ultimately, what are those 'alpha men' essentially doing? - Exactly. They are engaging in leisure activities. Having sex with women has become a leisure activity that has no bearing on the production of offspring any more.

It is important to understand that. The alpha male doesn't exist anymore. Its status has shifted to a behavioral marionette. And for reasons that are obvious if you follow MGTOW, the risks of engaging with women on a sexual basis far outweigh the benefits.
