I have a friend who has always been really close to his mother ever since we were children. He has his reasons which I won't go into here but let's just say his father wasn't right in the head. My friend has always counted on his mother for help in everything, even throughout adulthood, and she did all she could and more for him. Although his mother is a pretty level-headed lady, he was still negatively influenced by the absence of a strong father figure in his life.
Despite having many redeeming qualities, he constantly shows rather effeminate characteristics such as:
He takes meticulous care of his looks. He buys a lot of skin and hair care products and spends hours to get ready before going out.
He takes a lot pictures and 'selfies' of himself and posts them on facebook. He's generally on facebook all day everyday more or less.
He's cowardly and can't handle confrontation. He's hardly ever on time. He's emotional rather than logical. He's quite talkative.
He's a hopeless romantic who immediately falls in love with every half-decent girl he sees. He craves female energy and attention like a drug addict.
He's delusional about his art and abilities. He fancies himself a jack of all trades while it's painfully obvious that he's a master of none.
He's got hardly any real male friends. He still lives with his mother. Sometimes he falls asleep in her arms!
Now, you'd think that his mother is happy to have a thoughtful, sensitive and obedient son like him. Nope! He's actually becoming a huge burden. He does have a job away from home but keeps bitching about it to her. Even when he has relationship problems, he goes to her for advice and support. He actually wants to get married and keep living in the same house as his mother. He even asked her, I kid you not, to find him a good girl to marry recently!
They say that the only thing in common with childhood friends is the past and it's especially true in this case. We've grown distant over the years, but because of the the fact that my mother and his are also childhood friends, I get to hear about this stuff.
He's aware of my views on women and that's why he's hesitant to share with me his failed relationship stories which is absolutely fine by me. I can't say I wasn't surprised though when his mother asked me to talk to him and told me that he made her promise not to tell me specifically that he broke up with his fiancee!
In your experience, do you find that men who are extremely close to their mother are more prone to female manipulation, weak in character, etc?
