The role of toxic masculinity, which can be lethal even in small doses, has an undeniable role to play here.

I call bullshit. Masculinity is not toxic to men. Women think it is because women can't act like men without forsaking their female emotional needs. Men can harden the fuck up; men can derive self worth without regard from other people; men can obtain guidance from philosophy or other fields of knowledge, instead for relying on gossip and friends. None of that works for women. Shrinks may be oblivious to much of this, on account of all the women and feminine men in the field.

This is why men go their own way, but women join the sisterhood.

Women are often allowed to express feelings of loss, grief and sadness after divorce in a way societally imposed constructions of masculinity deny men.

Not true. Men are free to make offhand remarks about "the ex." What we don't welcome from fellow men is endless belaboring of shit, unless it's a best bud (and even then, there are limits.)

Citation needed. No, really. Citation need for that "need to process their feelings". Citation needed showing how you have to be a chatty Cathy to process you feelings, and somehow can't do it on your own. I also bet that by the time there is a divorce, most of the time she isn't much of a confidant any more.

While women may fare better than men after divorce, they seem to show a marked unwillingness to share responsibility for the demise of their marriages—and by large margins.

Anything else would involve women taking responsibility.

When you strip a man of his manhood and all that he possesses, and add how society looks at him especially if his ex-wife is drama queen, it sure as hell will be harder on him
