Yes this guy is a lunatic and I'm not condoning or defending his actions in anyway, but I can't help to think "could this have been prevented".

Generally when something like this happens the left is quick to blame everyone and everything but the assailant, however in this case I doubt very much that thatwill happen. Surely they won't look at Japanese culture and wonder if it's finally starting to drive Japanese men to madness. This isn't the first such recent attack on a famous Japanese woman and I doubt it will be the last.
