I know it was a reality TV show but otherwise I think it's relevant and real.

Basically, it's been done a couple of times -- IIRC some Dutch or Danish version of "Survivor", dropped two groups of adults onto different tropical island beaches, with minimal supplies; one group all men, and the other group all women.

In fairly short order the men, working both alone and on their own initiative on certain things (huts, fishing, etc) and yet also cooperatively and in a complimentary fashion (i.e. they didn't waste their time duplicating what another man was doing -- they didn't "compete" by trying to all build separate huts, etc)... Well within a few short days & then weeks they basically had a functional little "village", (considering time & materials at hand) they'd built a pretty substantial and sturdy group of structures, made a bunch of different tools, had created a ready food supply, and were basically living pretty comfortably.

The women... basically just ate through the supplies they were given, laid around to get suntans, and got into a series of bitchy fights over idiotic things.

In fact the women were doing SO disastrously that they ended up "reintegrating" the teams, taking a couple of the guys and shifting them over to the women's group/location, and taking a couple of the girls and making them part of the former "men's team".

The whole thing was both hilarious AND revealing.

BTW, I also have to say that the conclusion matches up DIRECTLY with my experience in my 5+ decades of life on this planet: Men, generally even at their worst or with next to nothing for resources, still manage to "build" (they contemplate, then compete AND cooperate to construct in complimentary fashion, etc) -- Women, even at their best and when gifted with all kinds of resources, manage to "decorate" (and complain, compete in catty fashion, try to control others and eventually collapse -- because that was all Oh so exhausting).

Have you watched naked and afraid? The women bitch, moan and do nothing and leech off the men, all the while the men build shelters and improve the quality of their life.
