The mods here do a great job but there's probably a lot more they do that we don't see. The best mods are the ones you don't see or hear, a lot of other subreddits see mods pushing their weight around.
The thing is, if someone is a long-standing part of the "community" -- i.e. a regular poster/commenter, etc; IOW somebody that is generally contributing POSITIVE things to the forum -- well that's rather a different thing entirely than some troll just popping in out of the blue, taking a big "crap" and then flying off.
I understand if/when the mods HERE delete some comment (mine or someone else's because we've "crossed a line") and am totally cool with that; because there is a whole SHITLOAD of "crap" that comes in otherwise -- and from the way I've seen them operate they really ARE moderating with the best interests of everyone that is actually "involved" with the forum.
That's vastly different from the way the moderation is done in other subreddits or forums.
