We MGTOW don't have to do much to destroy marriage. Trends like these are doing the work for us. Because if every wife from every walk of life is going to start to demand a wife bonus then marriage is going to be unaffordable to pretty much everyone outside of where the practice originally started: Park Avenue, NYC.

The first time I heard about this "wife bonus" was in a New Yorker article about upper east side Manhattan wives, who are married into some of the richest, most successful families in the world (hedge fund manager wives, wall street attorney wives, politician wives). It is about as close to Downton Abbey as you get in the USA.

They were given a "bonus" at the end of the year as a way of incentivising their job as a household manager. If the kid got into the school the husband wanted (which usually required a constant rapport with the school), the wife got a bonus. If the kid got good grades, the wife got a bonus. If the whole network of the husband's community and charitable foundations were attended to, she got a bonus. If she was able to host a dinner party for the husband's clients, she got a bonus. If she was able to manage the help, she gets a bonus.

And if she doesn't do these things, not only does she not get the bonus, but "the sharks close in" (as one woman said), and she gets tossed out of high society (divorced).

I imagine, also, that the wife bonus in that high society is a way of helping her look the other way when the husband goes on a business trip with the 25 year old secretary. It is, in a sense, protection money as well, so the wife doesn't blow the marriage up.

But this circumstance in the article is something different. This woman is not Upper East Side Manhattan wife material and can't afford an Upper East Side Manhattan marriage. Her terms are, quite frankly, breaking her husband (The Upper East Side wives don't get nearly 20% of the man's revenue in a year...maybe 5% which is still a lot). This woman and her husband aren't "high society." This man doesn't have a portfolio in the high 8 or 9 figures. He doesn't need a wife to oversee his charitable foundation. He's a solid middle class man and his wife has no business accepting a "bonus" from him just to be a middle class wife.

Frankly, why in the hell is this woman buying shoes when she (and he) ought to be investing the money into the kids? That's what people in the middle class did...and their kids are going to need every cent they can if they want to compete with those Upper East Side kids in a couple of decades.

But, again, it is female solipsism to think that every wife ought to be treated like a rich Manhattan wife, whether the husband can afford it or not. I bet you every wife in every Starbucks in every stable middle class suburb in the country is now seething with resentment, because they aren't getting a "wife bonus".

Its not a "wife bonus" its an 'allowance'. Allowances for golddiggers have been around for a while. If they weren't married, having 10 grand to spend wouldn't be that bad if she wasn't spending it on seriously retarded shit.
