There is an alternative/european cinema festival happening where I live and Possession (1981) by Andrzej Żuławski was advertised as one of the most important films to be shown and apparently is the movie defining his career. So I went to see it without reading about it too much. It turned out that this movie is an extreme analysis of a failing BP relationship, hypergamy and AF/BB dichotomy.

The Plot (Some Spoilers)

Mark (BP guy) comes home from an international business trip back to his home and wife Anna (HB10, 10/10 crazy) who tells him that she wants a divorce. Mark tries to talk to her and figure out what's going on. At first Anna lies that she's just "not feeling it anymore", but later it turns out she was cheating with Heinrich (RP guy), who was fucking her better. Mark is frustrated and doesn't get it, blames Anna for fucking up marriage and not caring about their son Bob.

From there on the movie devolves into Anna going bat shit crazy: she keeps on coming to Mark's house. Sometimes she plays with their son Bob, sometimes she just messes shit up, cuts herself for attention, etc. Mark tries to follow up on Heinrich, but finds out he's not even fucking Anna anymore, so Mark hires a spy to figure out what the hell his crazy bitch of a HB10 wife is doing. The spy finds out that Anna had rented a really shitty apartment, where she keeps some sort of monster. The monster is this big floppy bloody tentacle thing with a christian cross in its chest, who fucks Anna all she wants. All this time until Mark himself witnesses Anna fucking the monster he tries to "talk sense into her" and "work things out".

Analysis

In art house film usually I would allow for some misinterpretation on my part, but this film is just clear as day RP truths. The director Andrzej Żuławski was going through a divorce when he wrote this movie. Back in 1981 the guy was discovering the same thing all of us here have. Anna is the impersonation of all the worst possible female traits - Hypergamy and Whoreines to the point of fucking a tentacle monster which literally has a cross in its chest symbolising God. Mark is the BP guy trying to talk sense into Anna, asking her what's wrong, instead of telling her what to do and fucking her hard. Heinrich is the cool and sexy lover who Anna just cannot resist.

In a way, the movie almost seemed to be a caricature of TRP in its stereotypes. It approached the subject of the BB/AF and women hypergamy in absolute extremes. Best part? Lauded by critics as a masterpiece. I think mostly because people are too thick and keep a pretentious air of superiority regarding art house. Go read some reviews, where they hamster about what the movie is about and how it's great. They would not accept that what's depicted is extremely close to Andrzej Żuławski's true understanding of women.

Now, don't get me wrong, the film is shot fantastically, the acting is great and the ideas are explored in interesting ways making it a good film. But it literally portrays a woman as a dick craving slut. This is so unPC that it simply would not pass in 2016.

Personally, I do not think this is the best film to direct once you discover RP truths, but it worked for the guy at least in terms of fame, so each to their own. And I also would not recommend spending the 2 hours watching this, unless you're really into art house, in which case it's a fairly good film. What gets me the most is that RP may think like we have figured women out finally in 2016 (or 2011), but the truth must have been discovered by individuals all the time, at least since the female sexual revolution.

TL;DR: Art house movie from 1981 depicts hypergamy and AF/BB dichotomy in extreme light, is lauded by critics.
